Paed Iso

suddenly seeing a healthy child running n laughing happily make me think how blessed he/she is.

suddenly i feel so lucky to be where i am now.

children are so fragile and so easily defeated.

he was healthy and normal like any other babies of 3months old. on that afternoon he had fever, then he fitted and then become unconscious. He never gain consciousness for the next 2 days. IV lines were inserted, blood pressure was high and gas saturation was not good....

how normal it is for a child to have fever? but in his case, he has to be put under intensive care in order to save his life, he was diagnosed of meningitis.

this story has a good ending, now he is conscious and sometimes he smiles at us. his smile melts everyone's heart. however, it is not a perfect ending, this episode have cause some damage to his brain and it might affect his future intellectual development.

he was as naughty and active like any 7-year-old boy. suddenly within that few days, he had little urine output. his face become puffy.

a problem that can be solved by seeing a doctor in a clinic? NO.

since he was admitted, i see how he was gradually put on two, then three and until the 5 IV lines that he is having 2day. i see how his kidney deteriorates tht they have to put him on peritoneal dialysis. i see how his condition get worse that they have to give him blood transfusion. his bp was constantly high and his IV antihypertensives have to change from one type to another and then on multiple antihypertensives. they then have to intubate him to support his breathing.

he was conscious. Each day he watches people putting more and more tubes on his body. he was obedient and patient. however, he got angry the other day and struggled!! all the IV lines tercabut and he bleeds! how we understand and feel what he is going through??

he is going to be sent to HKL next week for renal biopsy. what is the ending of this story?? i am imagining the day he is discarged healthily from hospital...

it surprises me to see so many babies being admitted just becos of fever and sometimes it is caused by some real serious conditions. i had many episodes of fever when i was young, never do i know that this common symptom can indicate something which is that life-threatening.

got irritated by any naughty child?? we should be glad that he/she is naughty, healthy and active enough to irritate the people around them. ;))
